It seems I have once again been impaled by my assumptions. I often have a hard time abstracting myself from the story enough to see what cultural references I’m making that others might not understand. Sometimes, the clues that seem so clear to others do not even see or interpret some other way.
There’s a lot more to communication than just words, especially in fiction. The subtext also has to make sense, or the story fails.
